Artificial Intelligence Ddetects Serious Deseases in an Instant
Literally a blink of an eye, or a few seconds long look at the retina, and artificial intelligence detects the first signs of disease. This is exactly how the Prague Aireen project, which has recently received permission for use in clinical practice after its pilot phase, works. The fact that Aireen recognizes the onset of Alzheimer's disease, of glaucoma or of diabetes, was reported on the CzechCrunch website.
Another project developed by several Prague companies, which was also presented on the CzechCrunch website, works on a similar principle. With the support of the Faculty of Biomedical Engineering of the Czech Technical University, the Floxgen tool was created, which literally reads human DNA and detects irregularities in it. Its computing power saves the team of experts several weeks of intensive work.
For the development of such projects not only in our country but also in Europe, the Look AI Ventures fund was established. It is the first fund in the Czech Republic that is targeting start-ups focusing to artificial intelligence. You can read the details on the Forbes website. The NATO start-up fund called DIANA, which will be launched in the Czech Republic, will also focus on supporting AI. In addition to artificial intelligence, it will also target other technologies, such as quantum computers and space technologies. E15 website reported on the project.
October in Prague Will Belong to Biotechnology and Artificial Intelligence
Participants from all over Central Europe, a unique format connecting representatives of science and business, topics such as drug development, diagnostics and biomedicine: all that will the first annual Prague.bio conference offer. It will take place at the Liechtenstein Palace on 26 September and it will provide networking space for representatives of start-ups, technology companies, scientists, as well as students and investors.
At the end of October, the second annual AI Days event will culminate in Prague. A four-week marathon of lectures, workshops, presentations and an accompanying program will take place in four cities in the Czech Republic this year. It will visit Prague in the week of 30 October to 5 November. The program is open to everyone interested in artificial intelligence and its use.
How do Prague's Universities Compare to Those Abroad?
Recently, two rankings comparing universities around the world based on a set of different indicators were published. The QS World University Rankings determines the "best school" of all based on its methodology, while the latest Leiden rankings determine the best universities based on several categories. And how did Prague universities perform in both rankings?
In the QS World University Rankings, Charles University (UK) ranked the best several times in a row, improving its year-on-year result and jumping from the 288th to 248th place in the ranking. The Czech Technical University (CTU) ranked 454th and the University of Chemistry and Technology (UCT) 556th. Another Prague school that improved its year-on-year result in its ranking was the Czech University of Life Sciences Prague, which took 701st - 710th place this year.
The Leiden ranking assests universities in four separate pillars: scientific impact, international cooperation, open access and gender diversity. Prague is represented in the ranking by the four above-mentioned universities again. Charles University ranked best in the scientific impact category, as well as in the gender pillar, where it was joined by UCT. In the category of cooperation, all the previously mentioned Prague universities ranked well. Among the Prague schools, the CTU dominates in the open access category.

IBM Consulting introduced the activities of its new center of excellence in Prague, which will deal with security and effectiveness in work with artificial intelligence.
