Delta Air Lines Resumes Direct Connection between New York and Prague
Delta Air Lines will launch a regular route between Prague and New York on May 7 and May 8, respectively. The connection is expected to operate until 6 October connecting the metropoles every day with one, approximately nine-hour flight, with passengers boarding at Prague's Ruzyně at 11:00 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. local time in New York. Currently, interest in trips to the US has dropped by 15% since January and has turned towards Asian destinations. According to the director of the Letuška.cz portal, however, a regular direct flight between Prague and New York has always attracted passengers so far, because its launch has also been stimulating drop in ticket prices.
Despite the turbulent development of the political situation, there is, according to the Letuška.cz portal, still considerable interest in traveling to North America, which is why the regular Prague – New York route is returning to the flight schedule. "Demand for tickets to overseas flights will increase to above-the-standard level every time a direct connection is offered. Every year, this line is used by 40 thousand passengers, half of whom are incoming travelers. At the same time, the connection will force down price of the tickets on this route. At the moment, the price of a return ticket for a direct flight from Prague to New York is around 16 thousand crowns and prices will probably remain low since the competition of carriers on the route to New York is very intense. However, these are variants with transfers at other European airports," said Josef Trejbal, director of the Letuška.cz portal. According to him, a large number of people in New York are changing to other domestic flights, most often heading to Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Miami or Tampa.
