Herbal Innovation: Sustainable Gastronomy at Vienna House by Wyndham Andel's Prague
Vienna House by Wyndham Andel's Prague, located in Prague’s Smíchov district, is introducing a modern hydroponic system from Greeentech, taking gastronomy to a whole new level. Fresh herbs and salads now grow directly inside Oscar’s Bar, enhancing both the quality of dishes and reducing emissions associated with transportation.
This unique approach allows guests to enjoy the freshest organic ingredients, packed with vitamins, grown right inside the hotel. The Urbi hydroponic system operates on a nutrient solution and water recirculation principle, reducing water consumption by up to 90% compared to traditional farming. Each month, it can produce up to 120 pieces of herbs and salads, enriching the hotel’s cuisine with exceptional flavors.
However, sustainability at Vienna House by Wyndham Andel's Prague is not just a trend but a long-term commitment. The hotel actively supports eco-friendly initiatives, such as a zero-waste approach in the kitchen using local products, as well as its own honey production, which has repeatedly won gold medals for best taste. Additionally, guests are encouraged to adopt more sustainable habits, for example, by receiving rewards for skipping daily housekeeping.
Through these initiatives, the hotel not only enhances the guest experience but also contributes to environmental protection and sustainable development. Hydroponic cultivation is yet another proof that the fusion of modern technology with an ecological approach can yield outstanding results – and not just on the plate.
Vienna House by Wyndham Andel's Prague sincerely thanks Bez Hlíny, the exclusive distributor of URBI, for their cooperation and support.
