Voice of Public Echoes in Mural: PCC and PRAGUE! Project Turns Gray Wall into Stories

The Prague Congress Centre presents a new artistic realization (mural) “crossroads”, which was created in cooperation with the non-profit organization PRAHO! Project. Mural art, located under the northern terrace of the Prague Congress Centre, is part of the ART District Vyšehrad project and thematizes the journey, decision-making and the search for direction, both in space and in life.

Voice of the City Reflected in the Wall

The implementation of crossroads is based on the narratives of residents of Prague 4 and people who have connections to the site. A total of 85 authentic voices appear directly on the mural in the form of texts in six language versions. The collection of topics took place from November 2024 to March 2025 on the premises of the Prague Congress Centre (PCC) and online and became the basis for three thematic units: From / Which way / To.

The result is a spatial composition combining personal experience with visual inspiration in the form of maps, signposts and traffic signs. "For the realization of crossroads, it is important to choose text content that has the opportunity to stand out inside imaginary paths," explains the author of the visual solution, artist Nina Sibinská. "My intention was to maintain a minimalist look so that the visual subliminally reflected the view of the PCC and at the same time was in contrast with the surrounding vegetation on the way to Vyšehrad," adds the artist.

A Place That Speaks and Encourages Interaction

The newly created painting, as part of the Vyšehrad Art District project, fits naturally into the surroundings and transforms a previously indistinct part of the public space into a living backdrop and a place for quiet contemplation. The location under the north terrace overlooking the city multiplies the visual framework of the space.

However, the online dimension of the implementation allows for even deeper involvement: through QR codes, the public can connect with interactive content that is continuously updated and reflects current social issues. "The online space is of fundamental value to us: it allows visitors to participate in the installation, provide feedback and changes regularly for local residents," adds project coordinator and co-founder of PRAHO! project Veronika Matějková.

Art as a Tool of Dialogue

The location of the project was not chosen by chance: the Prague Congress Centre, as a dominant feature of the Prague skyline with its layered history, is a natural space for social dialogue. "We are pleased that mural art crossroads could be created here. We believe that culture has the power to transform the environment and that even such publicly shared art can contribute to a sensitive perception of space and its revival. We are glad that thanks to this implementation, the people who create and use this place are given a voice," says Lenka Žlebková, director of the Prague Congress Centre, which has initiated and financed the project.
