This year's event, which was held in Prague, was attended by 800 scientists, botanists, plant physiologists, ecologists, agronomists, engineers and other professionals, who interact with, or conduct activities related to weed science.

The scientific program consisted of several plenary lectures and concurrent sessions, which focused on a variety of topics within the field of weeds. The main themes of the congress were Biological Weed Characteristics, Weed Ecology, Weed Management in Crops, Herbicides and Application Technology, Weed Management on Non-agricultural Land as well as Agriculture, Economic and Societal Aspects of Weed Management and more.

As an amendment to the scientific program, excursions were scheduled in different destinations according to specific interests of attendees. Experimental facilities of academic institutions, production farms, agricultural exhibitions, countryside excursions and other locations were visited during additional cultural and social programs. An interesting social program was also prepared for the participants, which included a welcome cocktail at the Clarion Congress Hotel in Prague and a reception-style dinner at Žofín Palace.
