At the beginning of April, it will be exactly 80 years since the launch of operations of the largest and most modern airport in the Czech Republic. To celebrate the important anniversary, Prague Airport has prepared many surprises for passengers and the general public alike. The year of celebrations will start on 5th April with an anniversary flight on the Prague-Piešťany-Brno-Prague route, followed by an insight into the airport’s future vision.

On 5th April, the day of the anniversary, the airport in Prague, working with Czech Airlines and the airports in Piešťany and Brno, has prepared a reconstruction of a flight mentioned by historical sources as the first ever route which technically launched the operations of the Prague/Ruzyně airport. Airport visitors can also look forward to an interactive exhibition which will document the airport’s development from its establishment all the way to the vision of its future, which will be located on the ground floor of the Terminal 2 public area towards the end of spring 2017.

The airport has also prepared an open-door weekend for the general public and aviation enthusiasts combined with an exhibition of airport machinery and aircraft and many attractions for children. On 10 and 11 June, many interesting and historical aircraft will arrive at Václav Havel Airport Prague.

Additional interesting facts regarding the airport’s history, its present and its future vision will be published on a special website,, to be launched by the airport on the occasion of celebrating its 80th anniversary.
