Prague Airport Receives World Routes Marketing Award Once Again
Prague Airport won the category of airports handling 4 – 20 million passengers a year at the World Routes international conference, hosted in Barcelona from 23 to 26 September 2017. The airport has won in the competition of all airports in the same category for the second time in its history. Attending the largest gathering of air carriers and airports in the world, airline representatives recognised the quality of co-operation with the Prague's airport upon the development of new routes and in terms of marketing support.
Krakow, Birmingham and Naples out of European airports and Auckland, New Zealand were the runner-ups in the category, alongside Václav Havel Airport Prague. Airports are evaluated in the survey by representatives of air carriers who judge the way their requirements are handled by airports on a daily basis, the way relationships are built between airports and airlines as well as the way data and information is provided. They also focus on the incentive programmes offered by airports and the B2B and B2C marketing campaigns and communication activities pursued by airports. Prague Airport was recognised globally for the second time. In 2015, the airport won World Routes Marketing Award in Durban, South African Republic, last year, it was voted "Highly Commended Airport" in the prestigious Routes Europe Marketing Awards and it has been regularly shortlisted to receive the awards.
Since 1997, World Routes Marketing Awards are granted on a yearly basis by representatives of air carriers in five categories, out of which four reflect the size of the airport and the number of handled passengers, complemented by a separate category for the best destination marketing campaigns.
The World Routes Development Forum, the greatest international air transport event, witnessed its 23rd year in 2017. It is a platform for all stakeholders involved in air transport development, such as air carriers, airports, tourist organizations and more. Aviation services development and new routes are planned during the event.
