A Gathering of Experts on the Treatment of Child Burns Attracted Significant Guests from Around the World

For the first time in the history of the Burn Medicine Clinic (KPM FNKV), an International event focused on the treatment of burns, specifically of children, took place in Prague. The Prague Crossroads area, where the event took place from May 21 - May 24, 2019, symbolized not only the historical and cultural center of the capital, but also the place where the paths of education and progress cross.

The main topics of this year's European burn club workshop (ECPB 2019) were modern technologies, ie lasers, artificial leather, nanofibers, and simulations of the process after a mass accident in associated with a large number of burned children. The workshop also included the presentation of KPM FNKV work in the non-profit sector within the Bolíto association. The program was sparked with new presentation formats, such as www night (what, went, wrong), where three prominent speakers presented their professional failures from which they learned and which can help all of us to avoid similar mistakes.

“I think that the ECPB 2019 workshop was an ideal opportunity to establish further contacts and deepen the collaboration that our KPM FNKV has been developing with, for example, the University of Zurich or Schriners Hospital in Galveston, USA. We managed to attract very interesting personalities from all over the world to Prague. An important guest was undoubtedly Dr. Habib Quasim, who established the Children's Burns Department in Kabul and was awarded the prestigious Zora Janžekovič prize in 2018", said MD. Robert Zajíček, PhD., Head of KPM FNKV.

ECPB (European Club for Pediatric Burns) is an international community with a 20 year history and is comprised of professionals in the field of child burns. As a nonprofit organization, ECPB has set itself the main task of combining different expertise in the treatment of child burns worldwide. In May, KPM organized a workshop under the auspices of the Czech Medical Society of Jan Evangelista Purkyně in Prague (ČLS JEP). The event was organized by C-IN company.
