Over 1600 experts on extracorporeal life support gathered in Prague at the EuroELSO 2018
From May 23-26, 2018, Congress EuroELSO 2018 was held at the Prague Congress Center. It was the 7th European Meeting focused on the extracorporeal life support.
Every year, the goal of the event is to connect world-class professionals with an interest in advanced intensive care to create an extensive platform to share knowledge and gain new experiences with critical support systems. The Congress was divided into three core parallel educational tracks focused on adult, pediatric and perfusion/nursing topics related to extracorporeal therapies. The participants discussed everyday care, techniques, new directions or medical routines in care for the sick. In total, over 1600 participants from 63 countries were registered and 206 speakers spoke to them.
Altogether, 93 sections, 351 lectures and 80 moderated poster presentations covered all aspects of this topic at the Prague Congress Centre. The conference also included a so-called pre-congress focused on panel discussions and meetings with experts. Workshops focused on experimental scientific work or simulation of critical conditions of ECMO treatment and pediatric population, which took place at the Institute of Physiology, 1st Faculty of Medicine, Charles University in Prague.
Besides the main program, there was a "Run for Health" was organized on Friday attended by 30 brave runners. The exceptional atmosphere of a major international congress was also completed by a rich social program and beautiful weather.
